- Hello all,
-
- Actually the Cardinal modems do not contain the version of Rockwell
- chips that drive us (ISP tech support workers) crazy. Cardinal modems
- have Rockwell ACx chips. The Rockwell chips that do not perform
- compression or error correction are in the ATx line. (Software
- drivers are available for Windows users that need these capabilities).
- A good init string for the MVP144WIN is:
- AT&F&C1&D2&K3\N3
- Almost *every* time I see this problem with a Cardinal modem, it is
- because the modem has been initialized for fax transmission on Windows
- startup. Another thing to check is your comm driver. Check in the
- windows\system.ini file for the following line:
- comm.drv=xxxx.drv
- If you use Trumpet Winsock, it was probably changed to
- comm.drv=twcomm.drv. Cardinal modems tend to work best with
- comm.drv=comm.drv.
-
- Cardinal's home page has been "under construction" for about six
- months. It look as though they finally got something useful up within
- the last week. Their address is:
-
- I hope this helped...
